It didn't hurt their case (the case they presented was weak, weak beyond all reason). On the merits the case was a non-winner (and it's worth pointing out one of the jurors had been the lone hold out, leading to reversal of the other 11 out in another murder trial, one that ended up convicting).

On an aside, from the evidence (I ended up doing a lot of research on this five years ago) my opinion went from "The cops framed a guilty man," to he didn't do it.

The latter comes from the lack of the LAPD, or the DA's office looking for anyone else, because the wounds on Goldberg's neck, and the scenario described for Nicole Brown Simpson's actual death require that either a second person (at least) was present, or that Goldberg was so scared of a man with a knife; who was out of arm's reach, facing away from him while he killed Simpson, that he stood there and waited his turn, instead of jumping six feet to the gate; which even if locked could be vaulted by anyone in reasonable shape.

But he didn't even try.
