I have a bunch of scratches in my brand new stainless steel sink -- I don't know how they got there, I have been trying to be as careful as can be with it. I don't know what to do about them. I want to throw up. I think I am going to go to bed instead.

Breathe. I know it's hard. Check the bottoms of your pots for burrs? Anything similar? One of the nice things about such sinks is that it should be relatively easy to buff the scratches out.

*hugs*

I hope tomorrow is better for you.

Discolored water spots and scratches are typical with stainless kitchen surfaces. Use a mild cleaning abrasive, like Comet...

Relax, honey. One of the great things about stainless steel sinks and counters is that eventually the scratches and scrapes work their way into the swirly "grain" of the metal. In the meantime, though, get a can of Stainless Steel Magic from HD. It'll also help the incipient rust spots you said were starting to develop on the countertop. It's OK, y'knowEverything's fixable.
