One more thing about the theft...

Whoever it was, had fruit-picking equipment. In order to get the fruit at the top of the tree without damaging the tree, one would need a pole with a basket and a blade. Which pretty much rules out the homeless guy who hangs out in the park.

Sons of bitches.

BTW, is the tree itself injured anywhere?

Not that I can see.

Grrrrr.... I hope they find out who did it.

In the meantime, I'd suggest a large guard dog.

If I were in your position, I'd be totally creeped out. How are your sons dealing with this?

K kept talking about it this afternoon --- wanting to know when the FBI was going to be called, what would happen next time, would they catch the guys, etc. Finally I asked "K, is there anything you need to be reassured about?" Without missing a beat he answered "I need to be reassured that they won't come back and get in the house and hurt us." I tried to help him with that, but to tell the truth, I'm feeling rather unsettled on that point myself. The best I could tell him was that they hadn't tried to come into the house, and now that the fruit was all gone they would not come back. I hope that's true and that they don't come back and try to get the yard tools. The cop said he'd ask the night watch to have a guy cruise by our house a few times.

The other boys seem okay.
