Odds & Ends

About the MRI: I will not need to have surgery. I have a small tear in my posterior cruciate ligament, and have stretched both my PCL and the ligament that runs down the inside of the knee. Basically, I am supposed to "let pain be my guide" in which case I overdid it today. A lot.

After the first couple of days when it knocked me out, the Vicodin is giving me insomnia and making me cranky.

I am reading an interesting book, though: The Biblical Truth About America's Death Penalty. Basically, how the death penalty as applied in America is in violation of Scripture. I'm preparing arguments for my next visit to my in-laws (just kidding).

Oh, and remember how three months ago I had to have my keyboard replaced because the letters were chipping off? They're chipping off again. I've almost lost all of the "N".

I'm thinking of that passage in John about not casting the first stone, and a bunch of stuff in my part of the Bible about having enough witnesses.

What else?

I suspect that I would like that book.

That's part of it. I haven't read very far, but another part seems to be pointing out that "An eye for an eye" was meant to restrict blood vengeance, rather than mandate capital punishment.

It also appears that he argues that the fundmentalist use of the Bible to support the death penalty has precedents in Southern religious leaders using the bible to support slavery.

I am Nancy and would like to say..nice to meet you..

I am sorry to hear of your pain. I am a new person on your husband's journal coming across his journey to the wilderness last month and loving the stories and pictures of it all. And being so bold as to friend him :)

I think I have commented on your journal once before too. Quite a fan of your writings I am. You are most definitely one smart woman!

Vicoden makes me not sleep also and very cranky and edgy. I have a thin skin when I use it and it makes me just want to yell/fight when I am on it.

I have chronic back problems (two surgeries so far) and am in pain most of the time plus I am a big baby too (cannot tolerate pain well at all) .

Hi! Welcome to my LJ!

The Dell computer they bought for me at work has the *worst* keyboard; I swear, the letters were stenciled on the keys with soluble paint. I've lost the e, the r, the a, the s, and everything to the right of b. Fortunately, I'm a long-practiced touch typist, but now and then (usually before I'm sufficiently caffienated) I'll wind up one letter to the left or right of where I'm supposed to be and typing gobbledygook.

Could you just repaint the keys? That might be fun.

As I told [profile] brian1789, "I'm glad it won't require surgery.....I remember the discussions about my knee and was terrified at the thought of how long I would be out of commission!"
