(no subject)

I have spent, conservatively, seven hours over the past few days trying to get my journal to look the way I like.

What I want: Sidebars that contain calendars, links, blurbs, page summaries, and *tags*. Entries that contain links to edit text and tags. More distance between entry text and things like music or tags. Easily readable print in nice looking fonts, in a non-clunky looking layout. All of the things I've looked at and tweaked around offers some but not all of these things. Grrrrr. In most cases, I either like the peripherals -- sidebar stuff, edit links -- or the layout look, but not both. In many casea, just adding tags to the sidebars and placing more white space between entry text would make me a happy camper.

And I'm not a programmer so creating an entirely new style is beyond me.

Styles can be customized without you having to write code. For example, the Flexible Squares layout has an LJ community which contains tutorials for customizing, and people ask for advice on how to do the specific customizations they want. Other layouts may have similar communities.

So pretty much you want your livejournal to look like a wordpress or moveable type blog? ;)
