My prayers go out to the family of David Beverly, the NASA engineer who was shot today at JSC.

As a trivial aside, any conversation that includes the exchange: "Is the victim anyone we know?" "Don't know, they haven't released the names yet" is not fun.

[Clarification: No, we didn't know Mr. Beverly personally]

And I had that conversation (with 'you' rather than 'we') multiple times today. Then I debated hiding under the bed. Chose covers instead.

I was wondering whether you had been directly affected; of course the indirect effect is plenty chilling. My sympathies to you, and to Mr. Beverly's colleagues and family.
