TQOTD: American Presidents

What American President has given the longest inauguration speech?

William Henry Harrison gave a speech which was about twice as long as any other president's. The speech lasted an hour and forty-five minutes and was delivered in a snowstorm.

Harrison, of course, has had the shortest term of any American president: he died a month after the inauguration. Information Pleae Almanac.

You'd be amazed at how many people have no idea what that quote is un-abbreviated. The Shakespeare one that is not the elephant one.

Of course when one is done explaining it all of the brevity and wit has been lost. Sigh.

Although in that time he did manage to appoint a full Cabinet. So he was not so sick that he could not work at all, at least for some of that time.
