Her name was Rosalind Elsie Franklin. Her work was vital to one of the most significant discoveries in biology in the twentieth century. And most people have no clue who she was.

What was the discovery her work helped uncover?

Such a fascinating woman. Such a sad story. )

"I cannot and will not cut my conscience to fit this year's fashions, even though I long ago came to the conclusion that I was not a political person and could have no place in any political group."

Lillian Hellman, in her letter to the chairman of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, explaining why she would not be giving names of suspected Communists to the committee.

Something to remember in these dangerous times, that the people defending our freedoms are sometimes defending them from ourselves.

Am going through television withdrawal. Any suggestions?
Lest anyone who reads my journal and sees how much I whine about parenting think there are no rewards to having kids, I offer the following Hallmark moment:

One Mom, three boys, ages 6, 8, and 12, in the car all singing along to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the radio at the top of their lungs....

"I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me....
"HE'S JUST A POOR BOY FROM A POOR FAMILY!"

My kids are so damn cool.
