I just read this article on a possible thimerasol-autism link in Salon (led there by an item in [livejournal.com profile] mactavish's journal). (Salon requires you to watch an ad for entrance, I did not simply recopy the text because it is too long and I think all of it is important.) It is written by Robert Kennedy, Jr. I have read other things he has written, and he is not just another liberal who hates the Administration. For one thing, the meeting which Kennedy writes about took place under the Clinton Administration.

For years, I have downplayed the vaccine - autism link. The studies just weren't there to support it, and the one study that showed a link had been repudiated last year by the journal that had published it. But data may have been suppressed that showed a correlation (and yes, I know correlation is not causation) between thimerasol and autism. (Thimerasol is a preservative used in vaccines.)

I could not find a proper mood icon: I cannot decide if I am more filled with horror, rage, or grief. And there is not one for "filled with seemingly bottomless pain."

Read it, and weep.

[Edit: my sweet, loving, autistic son just came in and asked why I was crying. I could not tell him.]

Have printed out Map Quest directions for all legs of trip except for Topeka-Chicago because I did not have the address of the Chicago hotel. Have also located and printed out location, time, and fee information for The Art Institute of Chicago, The Field Museum of Natural History, the National Gallery of Art, the Air & Space Museum,The Museum of Natural History and the Museum of American history.

Now to figure out what goes in the car and how to pack it to go to Minneapolis. And get the boys' hair cut.

Dear people at Gino's East:

Not having your restaurant hours anywhere that II can find on your website makes me cranky and less likely to actually patronize your establishment.

Just a thought.

Me.
