So I am stuck in a recliner. The kids want to watch videos. So I put in "Citizen Kane" and announce that anyone who correctly figures out who Rosebud is before the end of the movie gets a dollar.

Next up: Casablanca.
During the end run up to yesterday's election in Ohio, Rush Limbaugh saw fit to denigrate the service record of Paul Hackett, an Army Marine Major who returned from Iraq not to long ago, who was running as a Democrat for the 2nd Congressional District seat. Seems he wasn't in a "combat position" according to Rush and his sources, and therefore was running a "fraudulent campaign."

Like just being in the country with an American military uniform is not dangerous enough. It sure as hell was a lot more dangerous than anything Rush was doing last year.

Not that Hackett probably gives a damn what Limbaugh thinks: he was outspoken enough to call GW a "chickenhawk" and independent enough not to back down when called on it.

I am torn between being elated that Hackett got within four percentage points in a district in which a Democrat had not gotten more than about 30% of the vote in the past thirty years, or incredulous and despairing that he lost.

[Edit: thanks to [livejournal.com profile] wcg, who is more careful than I am and who picks up on thing like what branch of service someone is in.]
I think for my own best interests I should not hang around LJ for a day. Definitely not the rest of tonight.
