Kevin insisted he wanted a cactus for his birthday. I was not sure what a nine-year-old would want with a cactus, but hey, it's his birthday. It's a lot better than other things he could have asked for.
Already this morning, he has put his new CD player on the cactus, insisting after a moment "Hey! Let me hear that, cactus!"

sarahh gave him and is hanging them on the cactus. "It's like a Christmas tree!" (At least until I hear "Damn, that hurt.")
By the way, the cactus's name is Steve, because "that's a good name for a cactus."
