There was a time when I entertained thoughts of asking to keep a small bit of bone from a terminally ill loved one after his death, to make into a talisman piece of jewelry to wear.
This desire lessened after the friend gave me a piece of jewelry that he made for me himself (the ring that I wear). Coincidentally, he is a student of GIA, the gemology institute that the article mentions. And he is still with us, happily - he'll give Death a struggle, yet.
okay, this is way, way, way weirder than having some of my dog's DNA made into a pendant (a service I was offered at the last vet's visit, when they were drawing blood anyway)

Well, /I/ wouldn't do it, but more power to those who want to.
(Btw, I assume Frankenboob's deleted her LJ because there's Too Much To Do? Or is something up?)
