I had not even gotten a chance to see it yet. Book of Daniel got cancelled.

Fucking Fundamentalists.

The Book of Daniel was a television show about an Episcopal priest who grappled with issues such as his own addictions and various problems -- including his son's homosexuality. The priest regularly talked to Jesus.

Fundamentalist groups objected strongly to the show. Several markets, including relatively large ones such as Nashville, bowed to pressure and opted not to show the program. From what I read, the objection seemed to be that Jesus would deign to talk to such a sinner without spending all His time condemning him and the people around him. (But then again, one of the blogs I read was from a fundamentalist who claimed that Episcopalianism wasn't even a religion.) The show was condemned as blasphemous and indecent.

Among people I know who watched it, opinion was mixed: a female priest at my church loved it, a good friend disliked it. I didn't get a chance to see it. Although I never got to see it, it did have one strike against it in my book: Jesus was played by another European white guy. Next time somebody has to cast the part of Jesus, I want them to cast Naveen Andrews.
