Who was the first woman to be featured on a American postage stamp?



The first woman to be featured on a United States postage stamp was Queen Isabella of Spain, on a stamp issued in 1893. She was honored for her role in funding Columbus's trips to the New World. The first American woman to be honored on a postage stamp was the mother of our country, Martha Washington, on a stamp issued in 1902. Source: Information Please Almanac.
