For those who object to the "I wish for peace" meme

I joined the "I wish for peace" meme because I have contacted my congressmen, I have written letters, I have made phone calls, I have sent faxes. My friends have attended peace rallies and vigils. None of it made a damn bit of difference to our president.

Madeleine L'Engle once explained that prayer is not magic; we don't even expect it to work, really. So why do we do it? Because it's an act of love, of caring, of hope.

I think that just about says it all for me (although I haven't sent any faxes : > )
