This song is pretty simplistic and somewhat sentimental, and sometimes that's what I need.

He wrote this in the aftermath of the L.A. riots, and stood by the song even after the line about loving anyone we choose got the song banned from many country radio stations.

He may be an egomaniac, but he does write some good stuff.
