Little League update

Well, the season is over. D's team reverted back to their former selves and were given a major shellacking yesterday, eliminating them from the playoffs.

J's team lost a close game, unfortunately one with several bad calls. I don't like to criticize umpiring as a rule, but these were pretty egregious. So his team is out of the playoffs.

All I have left is to get them ready for closing ceremony on the 14th, and figure out hw we can all attend the team parties -- all of which are scheduled for right after the ceremony.

And I still have not found an answer to this imponderable: how come I never seem to have on hand the same number of cups as athletic supporters?

D wants to take up football now.

I'm glad D's team got that taste of doing well right at the end of the season, so they can go away feeling good.

It must be a real triumph for D, for you and Brian, and for the coach who wanted to let him play, that he had a good enough time that he can even imagine trying a new sport. (Of course, success brings its own ironic challenges - but I thought I'd mention the good-news side of this.)

As for the cups and supporters, we don't have that problem. What I'm trying to figure out is why the footwear from one sport live in the front hall until (a) the season of the next sport or (b) I bitch about it multiple times. (Football cleats, soccer cleats, rugby cleats, skates, sailing shoes, climbing shoes, etc.)

(groan) yes. We still have ice skates sitting in the front hall, and now baseball season's already over...

Ah... the case of the disappearing cups. We've gone through a number of them this year. (??) Bren uses sliding shorts, instead of the elastic supporter thing. Each time I buy a new cup, the supporter thing comes along with it (haven't found a solitary cup I can purchase, so I end up with more and more sling-shot thingys and one hard plastic cup.) Did that make sense?

One funny... George bought a replacement during the season & got an *xlarge* (for a boy still wearing size 7x pants). It could have (past tense, as it's gone the way of the other cups) been used as a hard hat. I guess *Dad* believes his son to be more endowed than he actually is. Or we're now protecting the spleen as well.
