And to all the men who stood by them, who in Congress and the state legislatures voted to extend democracy to all citizens regardless of gender, who took risks themselves, thank you, too. Sometimes doing the right things can be hard.

And to those who spit on this sacrifice, through apathy or misguided conviction about what a women's place is, and to those who are willing to sell our Iraqi sisters down the river (because, after all, the rights of women aren't that important to democracy).... SHAME ON YOU.
