My earlier post about Mary Landrieu reminded me of Bill Clinton's reaction when told of Dennis Hastert's remarks about New Orleans having to be bulldozed:

In Syracuse, N.Y., former president Bill Clinton was discussing New Orleans's dilemma when someone described the speaker's comments. Had they been in the same place when the remarks were made, Clinton said, "I'm afraid I would have assaulted him."

It strikes me that Bill Clinton, who grew up working class in Arkansas, would have a lot more empathy for the people of Louisiana than the blue-blood Bushes from Texas.

I told David and Kevin that "Dad's sick. He's in Munich and he's feeling sick." Kevin's reply? "Well, he is getting old."

I have spent, conservatively, seven hours over the past few days trying to get my journal to look the way I like.

What I want: Sidebars that contain calendars, links, blurbs, page summaries, and *tags*. Entries that contain links to edit text and tags. More distance between entry text and things like music or tags. Easily readable print in nice looking fonts, in a non-clunky looking layout. All of the things I've looked at and tweaked around offers some but not all of these things. Grrrrr. In most cases, I either like the peripherals -- sidebar stuff, edit links -- or the layout look, but not both. In many casea, just adding tags to the sidebars and placing more white space between entry text would make me a happy camper.

And I'm not a programmer so creating an entirely new style is beyond me.
[livejournal.com profile] brian1789 has developed a kidney stone and is in a hospital in Munich. When I talked to him he was okay, albeit groggy from the pain meds. They will keep him there for a few days and get rid of the stone.

Poor guy. Well, it's better that he's in Germany than rural southern Spain.
