Hey, [personal profile] rmjwell, you would know this...

There is a comedy piece out there by (I think) Firesign Theatre called (I think) "Dragonet." ("Only the needle has been changed to protect the record.")

Does anyone else out there remember this -- and is that in fact the name and artist? I'm trying to find a copy of it so I can play it for James.

I believe that's a Stan Freberg piece.

Yep. Stan Freberg, "St George and the Dragonet.

I have it on CD. Email me and remind me and I'll find it and rip it and send you the mp3.

I remember that!

"Got you on a four-twelve too."
"A four-twelve?!?!? WHAT'S A FOUR-TWELVE?!?!?"
"Overacting. Come along."

"St. George and the Dragonnet" by Stan Freburg. On Dr. Demento collections. :)

Not only is that Stan Freberg, like everyone else has said but he actually got the real band to play on it. Jack Webb liked the idea so much he loaned his band so that it would have maximum authenticity. If you aren't hip to the wonder of Freberg, his American History record is one of the finest comedy records ever. The second one isn't bad either but the first one is just amazing.
