A little while ago, I ran a poll among people who were not on my "default view" explaining that I had cut back on the amount of time I spent reading journals, and allowing people to say whether or not they wanted to stay on my friends list. (These were all people who I would allow to read my friends only entries). If you did not see the original poll, it means you're on my default view and I read your journal.

I have pruned everyone who indicated that there was no point in me keeping them if I wasn't reading their journal, as well as everyone who could have seen the poll but failed to respond (which indicated to me that they probably were not reading my journal -- in which case, what's the point?)

If you feel you have been cut in error (always a possibility -- I have trouble telling which little box goes with which name) or want me to reconsider, let me know.

Worth noting: Whenever I've done a poll that I consider critical, I've put a link to it in a separate entry later. (This entry probably suffices for that.) The reason for that is that I've discovered over time that livejournal seriously glitches out when composing people's friends pages, so for a given entry, maybe 90% of the people reading you at that time actually see it.

If I read my friends list for a given day and then go through all the people's individual journals, I will always find several posts from the time span that didn't turn up on my friends page, and I can usually go back and look at the exact time they were posted and verify that they just never appeared.

I've confirmed with a bunch of other people that this happens to them as well.
