Television is a battle around my house. I have trouble holding the line with the kids, and getting the younger two to watch anything other than Cartoon Network is hard sometimes. (Although they can be talked into Food Network or Storm Stories on the Weather Channel. Go figure.)
Tonight, I stamped my foot and demanded they turn off cartoons, and as a disincentive to it going back on, I told them to turn it to KQED, knowing NOVA would be on. I love NOVA -- it's always interesting and well-made. They complained and whined, but no, I wouldn't even let them turn it to Food Network. Big Mean Mom.
Now, believe it or not, there are a few -- very few -- things in this world that bore me to tears. High on that list is military aircraft. I am alone on that in my family -- every one else thinks they're really cool.
So guess what's on NOVA tonight?
"The Battle for the X-Plane," about the development of the Joint Military Strike Force fighter. The two younger ones are watching in rapt fascination, and suggestions that maybe I could change it are being snickered at.
You can stop laughing any time now.
