I like Starbucks. Yes, I know all about their crappy business practices in some places -- how they run "mom and pop" coffee shops out of business. My local SB provides a neighborhood hanging out place that simply did not exist before, and helps keep a once almost derelict strip shopping area alive. (That, and they actually give benefits to their workers.) Also, people get annoyed at some of their cutesy drink names, too, and various other things.

But however you feel about Starbucks, there is no excuse for this. Or this.

I know. It's horrible.

It was also clearly premeditated: the woman asked for a larger size drink than she originally wanted, extra hot, and with extra whip cream (meaning extra fat, therefore extra cling).

Hopefully, the bitch will end up not only with time in jail but losing all her financial resources in the civil suit. There is not excuse for this.

Yeah, the asking for extra hot was what put it over the edge for me. See, I've had days and moods (though none too recently) where even a seemingly trivial frustration over not having what I ordered could result in a flung drink. I understand how frustration can lead to that kind of compulsion.

TD there is almost certainly a Republican... after all, she clearly felt that she was above the law.

I hardly think that assault is indicative of one's political affiliation.

Gee, I've been a registered Republican most of my registered voter life, and I don't feel I'm above the law.

Not every Republican is a neo-con, you know.

(nods) okay, that was over the top. And considering how fast I drive, I haven't that much room to talk... (wry grin)

The fact that she threw it at the order-taking barista instead of the one who made her drink implies some level of premediatation, IMO. She wasn't mad at Starbucks, she was mad at the person who told her no. And it was a very polite and skillful no, too.

I hope she gets jail time and sued for all she's worth. That's just... aarrrggg.
