It seems odd that the reviewer didn't take time to read it in translation.

Decades ago, I took a terrific class at Princeton, taught by Erich Segal ("Love Story"), called "The Ancient Comic Tradition". We read old Greek and Latin comedies, as well as "Fear of Flying", which counts as a "classic comedy" because of the plot.
