I'm a not-so-closet fan, myself. I'm a sucker for songs with humor, and songs about quiet faith and happiness (like Thank God I'm a Country Boy, or Matthew). What's not to like? There was a time when computers were as uncool as you could get, too. :-) Country/Folk music will have its day.
Just yesterday, I but "Grandma's Feather Bed" on my party playlist. :)
The first songs I learned to play on my guitar, in '75, were John Denver songs. I've also always really loved a good chunk of (but never most of) the Carpenter's song book. I like a simple song that I can sing to, and I'm an incorrigible Pollyanna (typed "polyanna" at first) so both work for me.
*grin* That's two of us then. I have fond memories (my father used to play Mr. Denver when I was a child - it was very nearly his sole departure from classical music).
Wow! And the guys tease me terribly as if I was the only "uncool kid" on the block. "Leaving on a Jet Plane" was my mom & dad's song. I actually saw JD live in concert in the 70s.
