I just finished two WWF posts. The first is about the icon controversy, which I would have ignored except that it cropped up in Making Light. The second is a very personal one --- that I think is nonetheless important -- about "Why I am not a lactivist." It came out of the fact that the icon controversy, and some of the nastiness about the debate, was triggering a lot of emotions in me regarding the first few weeks of my eldest son's life. I've been sitting here writing it and crying, but I think I needed to do so. I put it over there rather than here because there are several good friends who do not read my LJ but who do read WWF.

I didn't feel that I had anything relevant to say about the personal story related in your "Why I am not a lactivist," post, but I found it both moving and ... 'informative' seems not the right word, but good for giving me additional perspective on issues I don't know anything about. I seemed like a difficult thing to recount, as you mention here. Thank you for doing so.

You're welcome. Post-partum depression has just started being talked about in the past ten years or so -- and only in the last couple of years have I seen people talking about post-partum psychosis. Before that, I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable talking about what I went through.

I'd better not get started on what I think of Tom Cruise...
