I was driving back from Stanford today when a man pulled up next to me and said "Lady, your front wheel is either bent or so loose it's about to come off!" Given what's been going on, I suspect the latter.

Thing is, it was driving fine yesterday. And this morning, Kevin told me he though that some of the lug nuts on the now loose tire looked looser -- a notion I pooh-poohed after looking at and feeling them. I guess I owe the boy an apology. He has really sharp eyes.

GEICO will not send road service out to tighten the tire lug nuts until I can find the key to the remaining locking lug nuts (one of which is still in the loose tire). I don't know where it is, and [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 is out of the country.

Meantime, I leave in ten minutes for Coalinga.

Pat, please don't drive that car until the lug nuts get tightened.

There should be a lug wrench located wherever the spare tire is. You can use that to tighten the lug nuts yourself. Stand on the handle to get additional torque. It'll work for a while until you can get it to someone with a proper impact wrench.
