Who was the first Beatle to win an award for a solo performance, and what was the song ?

Paul McCartney won for Best Contemporary Solo Vocal Performance in 1966 for "Eleanor Rigby." Source: Information Please Almanac and Grammy.com. Interestingly enough, that same year McCartney also won a songwriting Grammy (again, by himself) for "Michelle".

I don't understand either of these (since "Eleanor Rigby" was released as a Beatles song and since both McCartney and John Lennon are listed as songwriters of "Michelle") but hey, it's the Recording Academy. Their decisions don't have to make sense.

Pretty sneaky using a ringo sung song as the tagline. Left me going, "What ringo song could have won a grammy?" I'm heartened to know that "it don't come easy" or "no no no no" didn't make the grammy cut.

But he was the bomb in Hard Day's Night. Which is second only to Harvey in my favorite movie list.

Oops, sorry about that.... I didn't think about who did the vocal, was just thinking about the lyric.

And I've always felt that Ringo was seriously underrated as an actor.
