If you can avoid driving in and around Mountain View today, do so. It's a mess.

At 9:00, Rengstorff was backed up from past 101 near the bay to west of Central, almost to California Street. It had cleared by 10:30, but was still backed up to Middlefield.

Shoreline was backed up God knows how far -- I just crossed it on residential streets. At least to Central. At 10:30.

Moffett was backed up from near 101 to Middlefield. It took me eight minutes to get from 101 to the light past Middlefield.

Middlefield to Shoreline was a parking lot.

Crossing over 101, it looked very heavy, although moving -- unless you were in the lane to exit at Shoreline, in which case you were standing still.

Cisco is having an onsite meeting meeting at Shoreline Ampitheatre (?) with 30,000 employees. Jesus guys, thanks. Which means that all this traffic will go the other way this evening.

thanks for the info! My co-workers had a difficult time getting to work, and some were running late. I've shared this info with them, and *they* say thank you.

Actually, I was wrong: it seems to be at Shoreline Ampitheatre. This evening's traffic is going to be a bitch.

*sigh*

Thanks for the update. If *my* commute is bad, then we are really in trouble.

I knew something was badly wrong when it took me 15 minutes to go the 4 miles to work... I was late for my 9am meeting. (grumble)

It was closer to 7,000 people... but none of them carpooled. Guess where I was today? Catering the Cisco event. Luckily I was there at 5 a.m. & missed the crappy traffic. Do you know that it took many of our staff over 3 hours to get to work? Shoreline was a parking lot... literally.

We on for coffee in the morning? I'm shooting for 8:30... I'll call you (or you call me) in the morning & we'll figure it out.

Oh... and they left the amphitheater around noon... right after the food ran out. Seriously, lunch started at 11 and at 11:08 there were already people on the radio saying that they were running out of food. Cisco people came out of their *presentation* and devoured everything in their path. Nuts.

I was going by what they said on the satellite radio. The number did seem large. But yeah, it was a mess. At least, with them all leaving early traffic was okay this evening.

And 8:30 looks okay for me.
