It all comes down to "If we don't vote, we get the government we deserve". Personally, I vote because my grandmother was a suffereget back before women could vote. I remember my Dad's stepfather telling her how she was going to vote and her just smiling, and then voting the way She intended to in the first place.
Papaw was one of the great minds of the 12th century. He made up his mind about everything when he first put on long pants (circa 1898) and never change it about anything. I was grown and married the first time I ever saw him take his own plate into the kitchen and put it in the sink. ( Yes, I nearly fainted.) He really did believe that Mamaw would do anything he told her to do, and she never bothered to disabuse him of that idea. She would say "Yes, Will.", and simply go on about her business and do exactly what she intended to in the first place. I really think they lived in completely different worlds. But they were married for more than 45 years.
