It's been a great couple of weeks for this sports fan. Its been the most interesting Olympics in years... and then there is the NFL coaching soap opera.

I have been good -- only once have I spoken to a Raiders fan and gloated over Jon Gruden going to Tampa. People are mourning his departure -- except for me. I haven't been this happy about an upcoming NFL season in years.

Over the past several years, it's become not embarrassing to be a Buccaneers fan. Perhaps since they ditched the orange and red for the red and pewter, they are not seen as the pitiful dregs of the NFL. I don't know that I want them to become too popular, though, I would hate to be part of a trend. : >

I'm going to miss the Olympics. Every two years I get to see luge and bobsled and all those strange sports that usually don't get to see. I think I finally understand curling. I'm not sure I understand why it's in the Olympics, but then I don't understand why ice dancing is in the Olympics, either. (Personally, after everything that has happened at this Games, I think the IOC should just drop all figure skating from the Olympics. And I *like* watching figure skating! Of course, I also like watching ballroom dancing competitions, and I don't think the should be in the Olympics either.)

Even my five year old today said he was going to miss the Olympics. (After taking figure skating for a year, he's decided his goal is to be an Olympic champion..... in luge. Anyone know where I can get sliding lessons for a five-year old in Northern California?)
