Went in to do my pre-op work. Was told "Oh, you should have been on clear liquids since after breakfast this morning! Didn't your doctor tell you that?" No. They didn't. I skipped breakfast because I was so stressed and was looking forward to a lunch out -- and a nice dinner out with [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 this evening. (He was a real doll, BTW, punting work and going and holding my hand in the doctor's office.)

What was worse was when the nurse-practitioner listened to my lungs and told me that they were closed up (I have asthma). "If you come in like that tomorrow, they won't do the surgery." Aaarrrrggghhhh! So I am under instructions to use my Pulmo-Aide four times today and once tomorrow before I show up. I hate doing that because it makes me as jittery as Don Knotts. I have trouble with tremor. But the waiting is worse than anything, so I'll follow instructions. Just pray that they are able to go ahead with the surgery so I don't have to go through all this again in a couple of months.

On the good side, I was told that my surgery time had been moved to later in the morning, which means I can see the kids off to school before going in. That makes me feel better. But I still want a cheeseburger.

Awww

So sorry that they messed up your pre-op instructions (I'll bet that breakfast would have been welcome). That sucks. Let's affirm that they've exhausted their quota of snafus and from here on out everything will go smoothly and to plan. Best wishes for tomorrow!

Thanks! I'm just hoping that the saying about bad dress rehearsals meaning good openings applies here.... : >
