The House of Deputies voted to confirm Gene Robinson as bishop of N.H. It now goes to the House of Bishops -- and if it passes there, things will get *really* interesting in the Anglican world.

Also, a substitute resolution for the same-sex blessing rites has been offered: under the substitute, the blessing would be placed in Enriching Our Worship rather than Book of Occasional Services. EOW can be adopted -- or not -- by bishops individually. If it passes, neither side will be happy, I'm predicting -- the gay rights side because it will allow bishops to refuse to adopt rites for same-sex blessings, and the other side because the rites are being developed at all.

And the Diocese of Puerto Rico is now an official part of ECUSA.

I'm watching this with some interest. I'm not of any faith, but I do have respect for the more progressive parts of the Anglican church.

If you've never read John Shelby Spong (http://www.beliefnet.com/author/author_44.html), I highly recommend him. He was one of the first Episcopal Bishops to speak in favor of gay marriages within the church and the ordination of gay priests.
