That was really lovely.

I'll be thinking of you all.

Your writing is just *amazing* Pat. I really appreciate it. I am also very glad/relieved to hear that your trip there is providing you comfort and solace.

I've been worried about you and thinking of you. I'm glad you are finding peace in this and that while hard, the family is finding the passage a transition filled with love and support.

Be well and our thoughts remain with you and the family.

May she have a beautiful death
May the angels be the at the door to greet her
May her family find comfort and joy in their faith

You are all in my prayers.

Instead, even though it is unsettling, I also find being around her to be strangely comforting. She is dying -- so must we all. [...] He is a man of integrity and great strength. He is allowing his wife to leave this earth with dignity and love. He is maintaining normality and calmness for his children, yet not pretending that everything is okay. Today he said to me, "People die. It's part of life. I want them [his kids] to understand that."

Impending death has that way of focusing us on what is here and now and valued. It sounds like an experience of deep genuine honesty and presence, and such things are truly gifts.

I am very sorry for the loss that your family will soon go through. But given that the loss will happen, I am glad that you have been able to share in this profound experience. And it is good likewise that your brother-in-law is taking on new mantles of maturity in this time of greatest need for their children.

It sounds like you are all doing great honor to her life and spirit. What a tremendous gift to give her, and one another.
