This is sort of interesting, though I found myself frustrated for a bit of it, wanting to holler, "Just answer the question!" http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5518200
And the body of Christ on Earth will be better for it. Just as the Anglican church benefited in the long run from the Methodist movement, so this will in the long run work to the betterment of the Anglican communion. Ever since its inception, the Episcopal Church of the United States has had a tense and difficult relationship with Canterbury. The road to this division began not with the consecration of Bishop Robinson, but rather with the shot fired at Concord bridge in April of 1776.
After some thought, I agree. But what disturbs me most is not the splintering with the larger church, but the splintering within the ECUSA that's going to happen.
Christ said he came not to bring peace, but to set brother against brother. I think if we are to follow where God would lead us, this is the result.
The female PB got all the news, but the other big issue at the General Convention was that the Conference of Bishops from the Anglican Communion had requested the ECUSA to pass a resolution stating that they would not ordain any more gay bishops, and the General Convention refused to do so. They merely passed a resolution saying they would exercise "restraint," which was not good enough for the Archbisop of Canterbury.
The dioceses/churches in the ECUSA that are asking to be removed from the ECUSA and placed directly under the wing of the larger Anglican Church, however, are probably reacting to the female PB: there are some dioceses that still refuse to ordain women priests.

I understand Bill's comment, and I also feel some sympathetic anguish for the time of turmoil.
