Today, [livejournal.com profile] geekchick told me about a rabbit she had read about named "Rabbit Redford." This has led me to think of other pet names:

For bunnies:
Rabbit De Niro
Rabbit Plant (for the rock fans in the audience)
Rabbit J. Oppenheimer

For dogs:
(Boxers) Muhammad Ali and Jake La Motta
(Puli or Komondor -- dogs with dreadlocks) Bob (or Ziggy) Marley
(Pug) Al Pugcino (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] geekchick)
(Collies) Melon -- what else?

Cat:
Ballou
Sup
Astrophe

Koi:
Carp Diem

Guinea Pigs:
At Emptor (okay, so this is a sort of geeky joke, I still like it)

And so on.... I think I should take my meds and go to bed now.... : >

Guinea Pigs:
At Emptor

*cackle* This is my favorite, I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist when we get our next piggie. =)

Ok. I give up. I've been trying to figure this one out for a couple days. It seems you are getting at Caveat Emptor, but I can't figure out why. Then again, I haven't ever owned guniea pigs, so perhaps I'm just unclued about their scientific names?

Guinea pigs are also known as cavies, thus Cavy At Emptor. (I asked my sweetie if we could name our next pig this, and he threatened to throw things at me. =) )

The great thing about this suggestion is that it is subtle enough it just might go over some people's heads.

There was a realtor living around the corner from my father named Roger Carp.

Our first koi was named Roger.

The second was named Over Lee Koi.

The third was named Out Fishing.

And thus, of course, the fourth fish was named Willco.

My brother won one of those goldfish at the fair -- the whole 'throw the ping-pong ball in the fishbowl, win the fish' thing. We kept it with three fairly generic feeder goldfish (much more drab) until he wanted the tank for something else, at which point they got dropped into the pond with the koi.

That was, of course, Goldfishlocks and the Three Fish.

Every once in a while I declare that I'm going to give up all of this psychology nonsense and run off to be a tropical yak herder. (Tropical yaks because I hate the cold. A tropical yak can be obtained by putting sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt on a standard yak.)

[livejournal.com profile] curiousangel came up with the name for my first yak: Boris Pasternyak. I came up with the name for the other member of the breeding pair: Yakqueline Susann. Hard as it may be to believe, the names actually went downhill from there.

Yak Nicholson? (all work and no play makes yak a dull.... ungulate)

It's always nice to find people whose minds work like mine. I knew there was a reason I liked the two of you so much... : >

Is this where I say "your husband is not right"? ;)

You say that like it's news to me. *grin*

Our friends [livejournal.com profile] uncledark, [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbit and Troy are collectively known as The Rabbit Warren. They have a rabbit, who is--naturally--named Warren.

My friends David and Leslie had a bunny named Pat (http://www.kidsource.com/books/pat.the.bunny.html).
